I just love having quote art work here and there around the house. I sometimes add favorite quotes to chalkboards or buy canvases from stores with quotes printed on them, but if you can make your own printable quote artwork in any style you want right at home, why not do that? 🙂 I was recently introduced to BeFunky, a really fun online and mobile photo editing app and now I’m totally hooked! BeFunky asked me if I’d like to share a project with you using their web app and of course I agreed! I’ve had this idea for a little piece of art work to hang in the master bathroom once it gets done and this was the perfect excuse to finally make it!

I’ll use my creation today as an example for this project, but you can of course use any quote you like and make it in any style! The possibilities are endless!

Over the last little while, I've been collecting cool quotes I've stumbled across about printing, and I wanted to share them with you. Two things stand out about the. You might need copyright permission to print famous quotes in a company manual depending on the quotes you use. You don't need permission for long-dead historical persons, but for more recent works, it all depends if the remarks were copyrighted and when and if the copyright was renewed. Thousands of new, high-quality pictures added every day.

To start out, go to BeFunky.com and click on the “photo editor” box at the top of the page.

Next, you’ll need to grab a photo to use from your files on your computer.

I used this picture of the tree that you can see from the bathroom window. It just seemed like it made sense. 🙂

Next, you’ll need to re-size your picture so that it’s the size that you want your final print out to be. Click on “edit” from the tool bar on the left and then choose the “resize” box.

I resized mine so that it would work in a 5×7 frame, but you can make yours any size you like! Here are some sizes, in pixels, of standard frame sizes:

If you start with a really large file size for your photo, right out of your camera and then size it down, it will look crystal clear. Don’t worry though if you need to size your picture up a bit and it gets kind of weird-looking. You can make pretty much anything look really neat with the use of effects! Let’s get started on that!

BeFunky has some really cool effects that can totally change the whole look of your picture with just a click of a button! You can play around with these by clicking on “effects” or “artsy” in the tool bar. There are so many neat things in there! The one I used is under “artsy” and it’s one of the featured effects called “watercolor 1”. You can make any picture look like a watercolor painting! I’m pretty excited about it. 🙂

To make sure that my text would be visible over my picture, I decided to lighten the whole thing up. You can do this by clicking on “edit” and then choosing the “exposure” box.

To get this look, I increased the brightness and decreased the contrast.

Once you like the look of your background photo, all that’s left to do is add in your quote!

Click on “text” from the tool bar and either choose “add text” to play around with different fonts or simply choose one of their text presets to make it quick and easy!

Once you like what you see, save your creation to your computer and get ready to print!

It really is just so ridiculously easy! The whole process takes about 10 minutes, including time to play around with different effects and fonts. Just make sure that you put your creation into a frame that’s easy to open and close, because you’ll probably feel like changing it up all the time when you see how easy this project is.

You can see the backsplash tile in there still doesn’t have any grout and there are tons of things left to do, but this little project is a step in the right direction!

Plus, it makes me laugh, which is pretty important when you’re in the middle of a major renovation! 🙂

If you don’t have a picture that you want to use for the background of your quote, you can just use a blank white image and play around with all of the frames, stickers, and overlays that you can find on BeFunky to come up with something fabulous. So that’s all it takes to make all of that neat printable artwork you’ve been seeing everywhere! AND, here’s an extra tip: If your printer is acting up or is low on ink, just have it printed out at the same place you get your digital photos printed! I often do that if I have some pictures that I’m sending in anyway or if it’s for a gift or something. It’s usually ready for pick up in about an hour!
